I wrote this and my french chef underlined and wrote like 5 times that i need to write how the french counter attacked for every time i wrote germany.
The providence of Normandy is the geographical region in northern France. Normandy is famous for its rich, rolling countryside, stiff beaches and cliffs and the stronghold Mont Saint Michel. In the middle ages Normandy was home of the Normans the last people to successfully invade England. Normans were a mixture of Norse Vikings and Gallic tribes. They stacked Paris and were allowed land in the area of Normandy. Descendants of the leaders of the Normans later became Duke of Normandy. They than invaded the English again and the Duke became William I of England. After this Normandy was used as a base for England on and off during the 100 year war. Once the 100 year war with England ended Normandy found its self in a state of prosperity until war came again with Wars of Religion which hade many scattered battles throughout the province. During the French Revolution, Normandy cities such as Caen were used as anti-Republican strongholds. Normandy saw little action through ww1 and was the site of no major battles. Once Germany invaded France and surpassed its Maginot line it built it own fortifications. The Atlantic Wall encompassed most of west France and was attack by ailed forces during operations over lord as a means of getting a foot hold in fortress Europe. This lasted until Battle of the Bulge where German forces attempted to force allies back and into negotiating a peace treaty in Germany’s favor. After the war the towns that were affected rebuilt |
