GAT I need family advice!

So my grandparents never had anything to do with me..well no more than they had to.

Growing up *if* I got anything ever from them, it was weeks after the event..say for v-day, I'd get the old 'on sale' candy..bday's..normally just a card.

Yes, they had plenty of money and spent it on the boy grandkids.

So anywho, recently my uncle discovered that his dad (my grandpa) was molesting his sons while they were babysitting. Fucking horrible, but I've pretty much always hated my grandpa forever anyway, so I was all whatever...

Now any time my mother tries to tell me about all of this case, she always talks about him as "the molester", "the pervert" blah blah..drives me fucking insane.. HE HAS A NAME YOU FAT SLOB

So anywho...yesterday I get a letter in the mail from my grandmother. I sent her a Christmas card (to see if I'd get a reaction..this was before we found out about him molesting the kids)..and she was saying she's sorry for not writing sooner, I have a beautiful family blah blah balh be happy in all I do.

I was shocked, so I called my parents. My mom immediatly went off on a rampage about how they must just be trying to "help the molester" by getting me to write back a friendly letter.

This could have been a concern, but not once does the letter mention my grandfather, nor is it even "signed" by him..only "grandma moore".

Mom also went off on a tangent about how grandma was defending "the old pervert" and how disgusting that was. Which on one hand I agree BUT she's been with my grandpa since she was like 16...she's also terrified of him. She tried to leave him once but came back..so if she doesn't have the balls to leave him, like she's going to do it now...after 4 strokes. PLUS if she had no clue about this, it's a natural human reaction not to want to believe it.

So anywho...should I write her back with some updates and pics? Even though our relationship has always been awful, if she (not my grandpa) would like to meet my daughter..I'm ok with that. Or should I just toss the letter and go along with the omgbigconspiracy theory?

*on a side note - my grandpa is technically certified insane. they get phat gov money on it. he's tried to kill both my mom and my dad numerous times.. what a great family

you have no reason to sacrafice your time and effort to put towards them when they didnt do the same to you when you were a child.

you do whats best for your child. my opinion, those people arent whats best for them.

Basically, I missed out on having grandparents. My grandpa on my mom's side was dead before I was born, and grandma died when I was 6 (I watched her die

) With dad's side, we always tried to make it work, but it just never did..so we finally gave up.

Anywho, I'm not expecting some joyful reunion..or putting a lot of time into it. I do know though when people get old, they realize their mistakes sometimes..maybe that's what it is, and she's trying to make amends before she finally dies..or maybe she's doing what mom is saying.

I figured I could write a neutral letter, saying I was surprised to get it, since they never mentioned receiving the card to my parents...if I get a response, then maybe I'll push it...if not, then no real loss.
