Slept in and packed this morning in Tokyo, had breakfast at the hotel (never got a pic, but the dining room was pretty cool, 5-story slanting atrium ceiling looking out onto a garden patio) ... checked my luggage at the front desk after checking out and paying my bill, then made a shopping trip to Shinjuku on the subway, came back and retrieved my luggage, cab to Tokyo Station, Narita Express train to the airport (55 minutes nonstop at high speed, the airport is NOT close to downtown), cute Japanese girl at the J.A.L. check-in counter sees I'm going to Seattle and tells me in her basic English that she's been there, her boyfriend lives there .... was she saying I'm her boyfriend?
Long uncomfortable flight to LAX (why must the plane be a fucking sauna?), 2 hour layover there (still an armpit), then an early departure for Seattle. Left Tokyo at 5:20 p.m. Saturday ... arrived Seattle 4:20 p.m. Saturday. I am now re-adjusting to U.S. conditions with pizza, beer, and the World Series. I feel adjusted already. |

Was this a play on words from the movie "The Longest Day" ?

For the record, my use of psyduck has been rare and restrained, but seemed appropriate in this case. And after 11 hours of sleep, boy do I feel better! |

Hopefully this gets me back on west coast time, but you never know. And weird airport moment ... right after I cleared security in Seattle and I'm heading to luggage claim, I hear somebody call out my name .... it's my boss! Too weird, she was at the airport with her sister to pick up her elderly mom and friend who were returning from a Hawaii cruise, and they were on the same flight from LAX as me. |

I had jetlag when I came back from Korea, and I had school that same day and my mom wouldn't let me miss it. I was completely out of it the entire day and went to sleep as soon as I got home.

Trans-Pacific jet lag is an absolute beast. I spent close to three days in bed when I got back from Korea, and my waking hours were spent trying to figure out what fucking day it was.
