shoki, i demand answers. Quote:
no shit. all of tolkiens books would make good movies now that the Ring trilogy has made a mountain of cash. with enough money to do the special effects, anything can make money. |

I'd rather see the Wheel of Time or Sword of Truth series get made into movies than any more of the Tolkein stuff.
LotR bored me to tears most of the time. I barely remember the movies and have no desire to see them again...hell, I don't even care about the characters.

WoT is 12 books long right now... no way it'd get made unless they cut A LOT out of it.
haven't read SoT series, so i can't add much input there. |

SoT is around 8 books right now...but it lends itself easily to a movie setup since each book is pretty much a story all its own with very few loose ends...

that's not bad then. but still- eight books. too much for a franchise, imo.

WoT will eventually be a made for tv movie mini series.
Well as long as Jordan doesn't die and finishes it, but I'm sure they'd still make it a series if he did..someone would 'finish' it based on his notes as well. I've never read the other series. |

Quote:
The first book is Wizard's First Rule.. The writing and dialogue sound kinda amateurish and childish at times...and he has this bizarre fascination with sexual torment, tho he generally only alludes to it and never gets too detailed. But it's still a pretty good series...while the story and speech feels kinda childish, the message and philosophy is definitely not...it's mostly common sense, but it's nice to see someone point all these things out.. The Wizard's Rules are definitely good points...I.e: Wizard's First Rule: People are stupid. And because people are stupid, given proper motivation they will believe any lie either because they want it to be true or because they're afraid it might be true. I mean, that's mostly common sense, right? Yet everyone you know has been guilty of that...YOU have been guilty of it. Kinda makes you think...
