So I'm home doing laundry today and drying out after a few days in Vegas before flying to Amsterdam tomorrow. A few notes on the best of Vegas on this trip:
Best bar: Stack at The Mirage ... hot waitresses are good, fast service is good, combine them and you have awesome. We watched the UNC-USC game here. All-blonde waitress policy appears to be in effect. We had no complaints. Best strippers: Eden, about a block from The Rio. I'm not much into the strip-club deal because it's such a money shredder, but try to keep my married friends away from a chance to see any tits but their wives. Best non-stripper 'scenery': New York, New York on Saturday night. The little black dress is very 'in' apparently. I have no complaints. This does not count walking by the check-in desk at The Palms while half a dozen playmates were checking in for Hef's birthday party that night ... matching tight white bunny tees and black pants 4tw. Best cab ride: No cab available to get back to our hotel from Eden so we paid a mere $25 to go in the big Benz sedan of Tariq, who was waiting around bullshitting with the bouncers outside the club. Tariq gave us a running commentary on the history of strip clubs in his 19 years in Vegas. Educational. Best food: sushi at Little Buddha at The Palms. Our waitress was again very good and looked like Lucy Liu's slightly hotter little sister. Best conference: Pac-10 baby! UCLA and Oregon were very good to us at the sports books over the weekend We left on Sunday so we didn't have time to bet Oregon when they lost. |

The pic of the women, did you point the camera at the door so they wouldn't notice or were you really taking a picture of the door?

I was taking a pic of the interior of the monorail, trying to get in as much as I can ... hard to know what you're getting because the field of view in the LCD is not the same as the actual field of view that the picture will have.

I think they're little pumps to give the surface that rippled effect.

Where does Las Vegas get its electricity from? Are there a bunch of nuclear power plants over the horizon?

Forgot the 'best line of the weekend' ... on the flight home, some girl coming back from a weekend in Vegas with her Navy husband kept getting stuff out of her bag on the floor and I always had to move so she could get to it, to which she said "Hey at least you can tell your friends you had a 26-yr-old girl's head in your lap for half the flight home."
My answer: "And it didn't cost nearly as much as you usually pay for that in Vegas." My god she was a yakker, too, talked nonstop for the whole 2-hr flight ... the woman on the other side of her just rolled her eyes at me when we got off the plane. |

Best Vegas freebie: most of the sports books, like The Mirage and Bellagio, have a big section of seating that's reserved for people betting on horse racing, with little video screens and comfy chairs ... so during a big event like the NCAA's, there's not much seating for people who just want to drink and watch the games they bet on.
At The Palms, they're decidedly more pro-basketball ... probably because the casino is owned by the Maloof brothers, who own the Sacramento Kings. So they let us sit in those horse-betting seats (comfy leather swivel chairs) at their sports book, *and* the hot waitresses brought us free beers all day while we were watching the games. We were drinking free Guinness for 5 hours and just tipping the waitress 2-3 bucks every time she delivered. Brilliant! |

Mostly agree, that's why we go Sweet 16 weekend when there's basketball to watch and bet on all day ... but the games aren't on until noon or later, so we're actually awake by then.
Daytime is otherwise really only good for vegging by the pool with a book, recovering from your hangover. But after a few months of winter, that sounds good too. |

Yeah their's tons of stuff to do during the day but it's so miserably hot, and I couldn't gamble. We pretty much slept til three, then ate and watched tv til it started to cool off a bit.
