Take that, mainstream candidates! Also, all of Paul's money is from small independent donations, not the special interest and lobby money that makes up the bulk of Romney's and Giuliani's.
On a side note, the thought that Giuliani might ever be president horrifies me. |

Dude, I like Ron Paul. He seems like an exceptionally honest politician. I don't think he has a shot though.

Ron Paul has a lot of grassroots support. I've had 4 people come up to me trying to personally sell me on voting for Ron Paul and I see flyers for Ron Paul all over this state. In the past few weeks I've been in the panhandle, Orlando and Miami which is a good representation of north, central and south florida...everywhere I go I see support for Ron Paul. no other candidate.
I'm beginning to have a glimmer of hope for Ron Paul. |

Note: I think he's honest, but I don't really agree with a lot of what he says and I think he's kind of radical.

Being ahead of McCain in money means fucking nothing. Howard Dean had a whole shit-load of GRASSROOTS money early on, and that didn't turn out very well. He has 0% chance of winning the primary, but I do agree that if he somehow manages to take it, he'll have a very good shot at winning the actual election

Why would you feel worse about voting for Obama?
If it comes down to Guiliani and Clinton, I will have to kill both of them and annoint Paul as God-King of America. In fact, why don't we do that anyway. |

What is there to feel dirty about John Edwards? How you can you feel dirty voting for either Edwards or Obama, in my opinion the two best candidates, when the alternative, excluding Paul, is so shitty? Do we really want a shitty mayor or a flip-floppy Mormon as our Chief Executive? I'd much rather take the great speaking wishy-washy black man or the great speaking sensible Southerner.
And also, you can't underestimate the fact that if Obama or Edwards wins, well, they're going to have the full support of their party, which, let's be honest, is pretty fucked up, but is in favor of a lot more COMMON SENSE than the other guys. Whereas Paul will be hated by his party from Day 1, and will end up getting nothing done because he won't be able to appease his Democratic majority OR his Republican minority |

No but he'd be able to bring light to the fact that this should be about the issues and not party lines and hopefully fracture the two party system from the inside.

He wont get the republican nomination but we will probably end up running as an independant or libertarian.
And the additude of well he doesnt have a chance so dont support him is the reason we are stuck with this god aweful 2 party system.

well, i think its fair to say that if paul was elected pres he wouldnt be hated by his party, if anything itd force the republican party to draw closer to pauls ideals as it would obviously better represent the opinions of their base.

Sure, ideally, but there is a very small chance that will actually happen. And it's even smaller a chance that he'll actually be the President anyway

The absolute last thing this country needs right now is a protectionist president. You can say that the Great Depression was caused by a number of things, but that's untrue. It was an unremarkable set of circumstances with one driving factor: the Smoot-Hawley tariff, meant to protect American industries from foreign competition. Stocks fell all throughout its approach, then jumped by 50% overnight when it looked like it was sidetracked. Then it was passed and the rest is history. Our economy right now has the same sort of conditions to make it vulnerable to closing our trade borders, and serious recession if not a depression is a very real possibility with protectionist measures. We need to be moving back towards a free market, what historically works, not protective socialism. Also anyone who says our health care system needs to be like Canada's is absolutely batshit fucking retarded. |

Why? Less government is a good thing. The money they are extorting from the american people should be going to the local governments and american people anyways.

Furthermore, refusing to support a presidential candidate because "he has no chance" says plenty about your character. You're not betting. This isn't a horse race.

you can say it only if you give a better system in the same post for the US |

Exactly. Government is not the solution, government is the problem. Any candidate who overtly wants more government (Obama, Giuliani, Edwards) is no one who should be president. Great technological advances don't come from the government, economic prosperity sure as hell doesn't come from the government, and god help me if freedom is a right to be granted to you by the government.

I know that. His education and tax stances are both radical and crazy. His views on federal government are radical in general in that they differ strongly from the status quo.
That sounds great and all, but in the end it's not reality. |
